SPECIAL ANT LIFE CYCLE · STAGE 6

What should I build next?

The useful answer depends on your account. Before spending shells, spores, mutation materials, or other scarce resources, start with what you own, what is already developed, and what you are trying to improve.

Core rule: build toward the next useful improvement for your account — not toward a generic “best ant” list.
1

GOAL

Choose what you are trying to improve.

Start with the job: PvP, PvE, your first march, a second march, damage, survivability, control, or another specific objective. Without a goal, “what next?” becomes guesswork.

2

ROSTER

Use the ants you actually own.

Record the relevant ants, their seasons, stars, levels, and current development. Missing ants matter just as much as owned ants because they change which formations are realistically buildable.

3

CURRENT LINEUP

Identify the formation you are improving.

Do not optimize an ant in isolation. Look at the complete Front, Middle, and Back formation and identify the weakest or least suitable part of that formation.

4

DEVELOPMENT

Count the investment already in place.

A developed older ant may remain more useful than a newer ant at 0★. Compare current stars, skill development, role fit, and the cost of bringing a candidate to a fair test state.

5

NEXT GAIN

Choose the smallest change that produces a useful gain.

The next build may be a new ant, one star on an existing ant, a lineup-position change, or simply holding resources until a better candidate is available. “Spend nothing yet” can be a valid answer.

6

VERIFY

Test before committing the expensive resources.

If the recommendation requires replacing a developed ant, use the replacement test: one candidate, stable variables, repeated comparisons, then PROVEN or HOLD.

THE OUTPUT

Dolly should give you a practical next action.

BUILD

The improvement is supported, useful, and worth developing for the goal you selected.

TEST

The candidate looks promising, but it needs a fair comparison before you commit scarce resources.

HOLD

Your current development is still the better use of resources, or the evidence is not strong enough yet.

Ask Dolly what to build next Check evidence labels

RESOURCE SAFETY

Do not assume retirement resources are available.

A recommendation to build a new ant does not automatically mean you should destar, dismantle, convert, or reclaim resources from an older ant. Those mechanics remain a separate decision until the current rules are verified.
